Hello to our friends in Eldon, Iowa!

My girlfriend Melissa and I were visiting her family in Fairfield last week. When I heard that the "American Gothic" house was down the road we hopped in the car that afternoon and found this wonderful piece of Americana. We decided to put our own twist on the painting. I'm hoping Mr. Wood is smiling somewhere at our interpretation of his masterpiece! Thanks for being so friendly at the visitors center. Seeing the house was one of the highlights of our trip. Keep up the good work.

    Warm regards,
    Greg

It was nice to be there again Sunday. We enjoyed it all again, especially the film and the flip book.

These band photos were fun, I thought. The band played at the dedication/grand opening. The couple in the background I think were just listening and not posing. I don't know who they are, but they are the new generation of Iowans to me, young and strong, like your new center.

The other photo was after the band was done playing and walked over by the house. They still have their instruments and matching shirts and are obviously unposed. I thought it was a couple of fun moments that just happened on that special day.

    Have a great day!

This was so much fun! The staff members were so so friendly and helpful. I've been wanting to drive out to Eldon and do this for years - what a delight that there's a visitor's center that makes it so easy and educational, too.

We visited the new American Gothic House Center this summer and were very pleased with our visit. There were a variety of educational activities for a variety of ages. We used your props to take these pictures and noticed that you asked photos to be sent back to you. My children are ages 9 and 11. They did the first photo with Hannah as the girl and KJ as the boy, then thought it would be funny to switch parts. Two photos are enclosed. Hope you enjoy their laughs. Feel free to post these on your board.
