Winter Programs
These programs will be offered in the months of January, February and March. You may come to the Nature Center, or I will come to your classroom. These will include reading an age appropriate book as well as hands-on interaction. 30-60 minutes.
Winter Animals: Let us find out what animals do in the winter. Learn how animals survive a cold Iowa winter.
On The Right Track: We will learn how to figure out what animal has been in the area without actually having to see it. This will include tracks, sounds, scat and much more.
Midnight Foray: Find out what the night sounds and looks like with the help of a book on nighttime animals and some night vision “goggles.”
Planet Patron: Learn how to become a friend to nature and let nature become a friend to you.
Adding Nature: Learn where animals live and how many can live together in each habitat.
Nature Poetry: Read a nature book or poem and write a Haiku about the place we read about.
Native American Study: Learn a Native American Story and the importance of the stories they told.
Native American Winter: Learn how Native Americans lived during the winter.
Where Does My Garbage Go: Find out what happens to your garbage after you throw it in the trash can and it is picked up by the garbage collector.
Animal Tails: Explore the importance of a tail for different animals.
Antlers and Horns: What is the difference between a horn and an antler, and who has which one?
