GRAY EAGLE WILDLIFE PRESERVE
General Description:Adjacent to the Des Moines River, Gray Eagle consists of a series of seasonally flooded wetlands. Water levels fluctuate with the river. The area is well known during spring and fall migrations, where high concentrations and diversity of waterfowl, shorebirds and migratory songbirds can befound.The large deposition of sand and gravel provide a unique opportunity to observe reptiles and amphibians found along the Des Moines River.
There is Des Moines River fishing access only at the south end of the property.
Location: Located on south edge of Ottumwa, immediately east of the Des Moines River and south of Highway 63.
