History | back to top
The office of the County Recorder was established in 1839 to maintain official records of documents affecting title to real estate in order to preserve property rights and protects innocent third parties in real estate transactions. Although this basic duty remains relatively unchanged, many additional functions have been added to the office.
On January 2007 the Iowa County Recorders/Registrars Association launched the Iowa Land Records website, whose mission is to provide access to county and statewide land record and related information.
The office of the Recorder is an elected position with a term of four years. Iowa County Recorders are proud of their tradition and are looking forward to the future.
