120 Day Probationary Period: $28.85 Laborer I/Entry Level Position
Full Pay: $30.39 Mechanic
Wapello County Secondary Road Department is receiving applications for the job of MECHANIC. Under general supervision of the Shop Foreman. Performs overhauling and maintenance of diesel/gasoline engines, transmissions, trucks, generators, and other equipment. Performs necessary and preventative maintenance on all Secondary Road equipment. Duties as defined in Wapello County Job Description for MECHANIC dated 9/1/21.
Applicants should be physically able to perform the duties, must have knowledge in operation of type of equipment and must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a CDL license, Class A with air brake endorsement issued by the State of Iowa.
Successful applicants will be given a 120 day qualifying period for position. County Engineer will determine if applicant is qualified.
Job is open until filled. Final positions will be determined by department bid process currently ongoing. Applications will be reviewed on June 23rd, 2026.
