Real Estate

The Auditor is the overseer of county plats. A copy of all documents dealing with the transfer of real estate recorded in the Recorder's office is given to the Auditor's office.

Real estate documents can be accessed in the Recorder's office or the Iowa Land Records portal.

Each document is proofed for accuracy and chain of title. The document is then entered into the transfer record.

Plat and transfer records are maintained showing the ownership of all parcels of land for taxation purposes. Ownership and land records are maintained in the GIS office and may be viewed on the Beacon website.

Adding or Removing Someone from a Deed

The Auditor's Office cannot prepare deeds for property owners. We recommend that you contact either an attorney or title search company to have one prepared for you.
