Shop with a Cop

Bringing Hope, Dignity & Connection to Local Children

Shop With A Cop® is more than a holiday event—it's a chance to build lasting trust between law enforcement and the children we serve right here in Wapello County.

Each year, local deputies and officers spend one-on-one time with children in need. Together, they shop for warm clothing, school supplies, winter coats, shoes, toys, and gifts for the child’s family. Every child gains a positive experience with someone they can look up to—and turn to in times of need.

Who We Serve

We focus on children and families in Wapello County who face financial hardship. Referrals come from local schools, community members, and agencies who see the real needs up close.

Why It Matters

This program provides more than material support—it builds trust, self-worth, and connection. It shows kids that law enforcement is there to help, to listen, and to care. For many, it’s the first time they’ve had a reason to smile in a while—and it leaves a lasting impact.

How You Can Help

We welcome both businesses and individuals to be a part of this mission.

  • Businesses can participate through direct sponsorships or by encouraging employees to contribute individually.
  • Individuals can donate any amount—because every dollar goes directly toward serving a child in need.

If just 3,000 people gave $25, or 1,500 gave $50, we’d exceed our goal and fully fund the program for the year.

Where Your Support Goes

  • One-on-one shopping experiences for children
  • Meals and mentorship time with local deputies
    • Year-round support for youth-related needs, including:
    • Emergency clothing and car seats
    • Support for programs like the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and local prom committees

Make an Impact Today

Together, we can give children in our community more than a gift—we can give them hope.
